History of soap bubbles

Geschichte der SeifenblasenBefore more than 5.000 years the Summerer at the old orient invented the soap, already. Since these days people all over the world have been faszinated by soap bubbles. Paintings from centuries ago are showing soap bubbles. Bubbles have been depicted as children toy but also as a symbol of lifes fleetingness and fragility. Shape, color and movements of bubbles have inspired humens, always.

In old paintings children are making a single magic bubble with tools like a straw or a meerschaum pipe. The paintings teach us that the soap needed to be mixed in a separate pot, always.


1948

Pustefix 19481948 Germany faced hunger and was in a state of destruction after the war. Cities and factrories laid in rubble and ash. The money was worthless and the barter was booming. Chemist Dr. Rolf Hein experimented with washing powder, which he exchanged for food on the farmlands around Tübingen. Through his experiments Dr. Hein discovered a liquid perfect for making bubbles as well. He wanted all Children to experience the fascination and wonder of the colorful iridescent, floating bubbles without the inconvenience of the past days. His goal was to create a complete bubble toy including liquid, container and blowing tool. The German economy developped with the start of the German Mark and encouraged Dr. Hein to start with his toy factory. Using the yellow teddy bear of his kids as symbol he established the trade mark PUSTFEIX for bubble toys.


PUSTEFIX aluminium tube

Pustefix AluminiumröhrchenThe original PUSTEFIX was a small labeled aluminium tube with a natural cork as sealant. The bubble wand was made from a steel metal spring attached to a metal pin placed into the cork. This version of PUSTEFIX could not be stored for a longer time or shipped over long distance. The aluminium and the metal spring combined with the liquid caused a chemical reaktion compareable to a battery and the wand was decomposed after a short time. The cork was not very tight and leaked due to it porous nature. The slightest spill of liquid caused the label to despatch.


1960

Pustefix 1960Around 1960 alle these disadvantages were overcome with the use of plastic. Since then, PUSTEFIX can be stored indefinitely, is sealed tightly and the printing of the logo is executed directly on the plastic containers. This changes have been the preconditions to ship PUSTEFIX over long distances and to supply perfect quality in countries far away as well.


1973

In 1973 Gerold Peter Hein assumed ownership of PUSTEFIX from his father. However he faced a great problem the time he took over the company. Germany experienced a drop in his birth-rate and this reduced number of kids had his effect in a decrease of PUSTEFIX sales. Therefore, the strategie was changed to force the export of PUSTEFIX. In addition to the Europeans neighbors PUSTEFIX started to be very successful in the United States and Japan.

1980

Pustefix 1980Since the 80's PUSTEFIX is available in more and more countries like Singapore, Russia, Kasachstan, Korea, South-Afrika and also some exotic Southsea islands. At the same time the range of PUSTEFIX bubble toys was expanded. Beginning from the original bubble toy, now a complete line of bubble toys was developped.


1993

Searching for new markets for the famous PUSTEFIX bubble toys PUSTEFIX was discovered as a sympathic promotion item. The new marketing company SUCCESS - successful promotion with fun was founded to offer PUSTEFIX toys customized with individual prints as a promotional give away.

50 aniversary of PUSTEFIX

Pustefix Fan-Shop50 years after establishing PUSTEFIX by the grandfather, Frank Wolfgang Hein did take over the leadership from his father in 1998. By now the company is in the third generation family owned. At the same time of the 50 aniversary and the start of the PUSTEFIX internet pages the FAN-SHOP was founded. The PUSTEFIX FAN SHOP provides a small permanent bubble exhibition in Tübingen, offers factory tours, is contact for all consumer requests, takes care of PUSTEFIX donations to charity and wellfare organisations and is marketing the beloved PUSTEFIX fan collection.


2000

In the year 2000 Louis Pearl and Frank Hein started the cooperation between the companies TANGENT TOY and PUSTEFIX. As result of this cooperation the amazing play ideas of the bubble artist Louis Pearl are now available under the headline TANGENT BY PUSTEFIX within the PUSTEFIX line.

2003

The PUSTEFIX FAN-SHOP gets a new baby. Under the brand BUBBLeVENTS grows a new exiting offer. Professional executed bubble events for all occasions. No matter if guarded by the PUSTEFIX team or if carried out on your own the new BUBBLeVENTS guarantee maximum bubble fun for childrens birthday party up to mega events.


2004

The PUSTEFIX fan collection keeps growing. The PUSTEFIX fans can choose among many new products. The PUSTEFIX t-shirts are added by a PUSTEFIX mug, train sets, bags, a PUSTEFIX Smart mini car, alarm clock, …

New BUBBLeVENTS offers are launched, also: Bubble playboothes, playboxes and
bubble machines are offering more and more options.

The range of PUSTEFIX items and services represents the complete variety of bubble requirements and demands of toy trade, promotional trade, event customers and fans of PUSTEFIX. Due to the continious increase, the business fields of PUSTEFIX are reorginized at the beginning of 2005 .

The Dr. Rolf Hein GmbH & Co. KG now is responsible for the brands PUSTEFIX magic bubble toys and SUCCESS promotion and focused on the requirements of trade. The new established Frank W. Hein GmbH & Co. KG takes care of the FAN-SHOP and the organisation of BUBBLeVENTS.


2005

In cooperation with the Ravensburger-Spieleland, the artist Ralf Esslinger and BUBBLeVENTS a new PUSTEFIX attraction for the seasons 2005 and 2006 is started. At the open air stage at the Spieleland the visitors have a lot of fun at the 100 squaremeters bubble playground. During the peak season a bubble show takes the audience into the fascinating world of bubbles.

The scientific background of the fragile bubbles can be explored with the new sience exponats at the Spieleland and during the factory tours at PUSTEFIX. The oberservatrions and experineces of the vistors are competently supportet by Dr. BUBBLES.
